Silver Threads Quilt Guild
Charity
Our challenge to everyone is to use all the fabrics that are stored in the back room of the church making many charity quilts. Please be prepared to make at least one to help us in this goal. Every time you turn in a charity quilt, you will be entered for a chance to win a prize that will be drawn at the end of the year.
We will have some kits ready at the next meeting. The kits consist of squares to make a scrappy quilt, which at the most of you know can make a very attractive quilt. Don’t be afraid to use them…as ugly as you might think they look. Ugly quilts can be beautiful.
We are going to join the ladies of the church for sit and sew once a month. The first one will be February 16th…mark your calendar. If you can’t bring your sewing machine, come and iron or cut. We’ll start at 10am until?? Bring your lunch. If you can only spare an hour, come and help. This will be a good way to get quilts, Christmas stockings or pillow cases made and visit with each other.
We intend to have a couple of Saturday sit and sew during the year for those who work and unable to join us.
The guild has batting for all charity quilts made. Show us your top and we’ll cut the batting. We have a good idea for making a quilt as you go.
See you on meeting night.

BOARD NEWS:
The board came up with four ways we can start to recapture that 'small
town feeling' in our guild again, even though we have doubled in size
during the past few years.
1) Sunshine and Shadows...we can send cards when needed whether for
illness, sorrow or happiness. The guild has the cards and the stamps,
so if someone would like to be our sunshine lady for this year, contact
Danna. If you know a guild member that needs a card, e-mail or call
Deane or Danna.
2) Networking...we can support each others endeavors and small
businesses. If you have a small business, whether it is quilt related
or not get your info to Vickie by February 10th (our next meeting) to be
included in our 2011 roster. This is one way we can support our fellow
quilters.
3) Classified Ads...each month in the newsletter you can advertise quilt
related stuff you no longer want and wish to sell or give away. Write a
sentence or two, include your name and contact number and get the info
to Danna. We'll also let you include a yard sale if you are selling
quilt related items at the sale. Danna's monthly deadline is the 20th
of each month.
4) Happenings:... What is happening quilt wise in our local area?
Ruth has agreed to keep us informed of quilt shows and events within a
few hours drive. So if you know of a show or event, get the info to
Ruth so she can share it with all of us..
